The High Sierra Trail spans 71 miles of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I had the opportunity to hike this trail in Auguest, 2009. We started at Crescent Meadow in Sequoia National Park and six days later we ended at the Mt. Whitney Portal. Along the way we encountered scenes and images only the Sierra Nevadas can produce. When I came across images of this lake prepping for my trip I knew I had to see this lake, and it didn't disappoint. Only wish I could have spent more than 40 minutes there, but still had 13 miles left to go that day. Definitely want to go back.
Extreme close-up of the base of three trees bunched together. Taken day five on the High Sierra Trail.
We experienced some stormy weather the last couple of days of our trip. This shot was taken on day five on the High Sierra Trail.
As you can things got rather gloomy on Day 5 on the High Sierra Trail as we approached Guitar Lake.
Our last day in the Sierras we were treated to quite a dramatic sunrise.
